THE BEAT

PETE MYERS replaced Michael Jordan at guard when Jordan retired for the first time 15 years ago, and now Myers (below), a Bulls assistant coach, is subbing for President-elect Barack Obama. He worked as a stand-in for Obama in a biographical profile scheduled to air on the BBC in England on Inauguration Day. In the show Myers plays pickup ball as Obama did during his campaign.... LeBron James makes his professional singing debut in an NBA commercial set to run on Christmas. The spot shows him in front of his locker, wearing headphones and signing along to Cyndi Lauper's 1984 hit Time After Time. "I had to get my voice right," said James. "I was a little raspy. I had to get some tea because I was singing all day."
