Pat on His Back

This is an article from the Dec. 29, 2008 issue

New England wide receiver Wes Welker celebrated a second-quarter touchdown catch on Sunday by making a snow angel to the amusement of tight end Tyson DeVree (85). Welker had a team-high seven receptions in the Patriots' 47--7 blowout of Arizona in Foxborough, Mass.

Mud for Each Other

Carroll linebacker Owen Koeppen (51) and safety Cody Lamb (19) splashed down Sioux Falls quarterback Lorenzo Brown in the NAIA championship game last Saturday in soggy Rome, Ga. Sioux Falls won 23--7, avenging a 17--9 loss to the Saints in last year's title game.

Full Steam Ahead

The combination of cold, wet weather and the heat of competition caused a cloud to form over a scrum between visiting Stade Français (in pink) and Harlequins during their Heineken Cup rugby match on Dec. 13 in Twickenham, England. Harlequins prevailed 19--17 to remain unbeaten and advance to the fifth round.
