1 I think if I were San Francisco coach Mike Singletary, I'd consider signing DB Pacman Jones. If I'm the 49ers, I'd give Jones (below) a "one strike and you're out" ultimatum with no guaranteed money. That way the team would have five months to evaluate him at virtually no cost because nonguaranteed contracts don't begin paying out until the first week of the season.
2 I think newly signed Arizona pass rusher Joey Porter will be motivated to play hard in the desert by wanting to show his previous team, the Dolphins, that it didn't use him right in Miami. Porter strikes me as one of those "it's never my fault" kind of guys.
3 I think if I were running the Steelers, I wouldn't draft a quarterback in the first couple of rounds. However, I would definitely add a developmental quarterback to my roster, somewhere in rounds four through seven, and bring him along quickly.
