By drubbing the Royals 15--5 on Sunday the South Siders completed a 2½-month, worst-to-first climb, attributable largely to their bullpen. Over that period Chicago relievers topped the AL in ERA, led by Bobby Jenks, who has a 1.15 ERA with 12 saves in as many opportunities in June and July.
No LeBron, but Chicago had the consolation of landing the power forward it was itching for in Carlos Boozer. Meanwhile, MLS's Red Bulls are unbeaten in five, and Pamplona's toros got their horns into two daring dashers (not fatally) at the annual running.

The world's No. 4 shot a 54-hole PGA-record 25-under 188 and in 72 holes had 31 birdies (one short of another record but lifting him to No. 2 in that category in '10) while winning the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Ill., three hours from the University of Illinois, his alma mater.
For $14.99 Versus network offers live streaming and GPS tracking of the Tour de France on its iPhone app. Without it you may have missed the stage 6 scuffle (right) in which Spain's Carlos Barredo whacked Portugal's Rui Costa over the head with his front wheel.
The World Cup final was marred by a record 14 yellows, some justified, others not so much. So ubiquitous was the sight of Arjen Robben writhing on the turf that bloggers literally had almost as much of a ball photo-shopping the curled-up Dutchman as we did making him the object of the Catch by Dwight Clark.
Do svidaniya, Evgeni Nabokov! San Jose lost its stellar keeper (left) to Russia's SKA St. Petersburg. In other Jaws droppings, Reds pitching prospect Chad Rogers needed more than 50 stitches after being bitten by a sea beastie while surfing off Texas.
The Germany-Spain Cup semi and the final saw fans taking the field. (In the latter, a man got within arm's reach of the trophy, left.) On July 6, the Mariners fell to K.C. after a teen patron scooped up a fair ball, preventing Ichiro from scoring the potential winning run.
The Cincy receiver became the first athlete with his own iPad app and debuted his reality dating show, VH1's The Ultimate Catch, on which he pledged to show "class," then lined up 85 girlfriend apps for toe-touches before cutting some with, "You're out, Mama."
SI PLAYERS MLB POLL
WHO IS THE MOST OVERRATED PLAYER?
Joba Chamberlain, Yankees P 12%
Alex Rodriguez, Yankees 3B 5%
Gary Matthews Jr., Reds CF 5%
Nick Swisher, Yankees RF 4%
J.D. Drew, Red Sox RF 3%
Overrated by whom? Outside of Rodriguez, none of the top five vote-getters have more than one All-Star appearance.... They Hate New York: Seven of the 16 with at least three votes have played this season for one of the two Big Apple teams.... Maybe the voters knew something: On June 15 the Mets released Matthews. Nine days later Cincinnati signed the 35-year-old but shipped him to Triple A Louisville.
