Pittsburgh freshman Khem Birch is making a huge mistake. By transferring less than halfway through his first season, the 6'9" Birch, a former McDonald's All-American who was averaging 4.4 points and 5.0 rebounds, is showing his lack of understanding that playing time is earned, not awarded.... Arnett Moultrie has been a huge addition for Mississippi State. The 6'11" junior forward, who transferred from UTEP, has drastically improved the Bulldogs' interior defense. He is averaging a double double and had 17 points, 13 rebounds and a game-saving block in MSU's win at Detroit last Saturday.... Jorge Gutierrez is one of the country's best defenders. Cal's 6'3" guard held the nation's leading scorer, Weber State guard Damian Lillard (25.4 ppg), to a season-low 14 points on 4-for-17 shooting. Gutierrez added a game-high 24 points in the 77--57 win.
