LEADING OFF

PHOTOPhotograph by Walter Iooss Jr.Hip-Synched Which one is Beyoncé again? That's her to the left—not that anyone at Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans had to ask. Pop's Queen Bey blew the roof off the Superdome with a halftime act in which she reunited with her Destiny's Child bandmates and exhibited more athleticism than the 49ers' secondary. All done without a backing vocal track. Take that, America. PHOTOPhotograph by David E. KluthoSuperdim There was bound to be a letdown in energy after Beyoncé left the stage ... but did anyone expect the lights to go out? A partial power outage less than two minutes into the third quarter left vast sections of the 73,208-seat stadium in the dark, causing a 34-minute delay and sending the Ravens' Ray Lewis and Ed Reed (inset) onto the field to stretch and stay loose. Safety Ed Reed grabbed the Lombardi Trophy and reveled in the moment (and the confetti) shortly after Baltimore nailed down its second Super Bowl in 12 years. Reed was celebrating—and, perhaps, going out in style. The nine-time Pro Bowler, who has spent all 11 of his NFL seasons with the Ravens, is likely to leave as a free agent.
