Within 24 hours, Dodgers ace Zack Greinke, signed for $147 million, broke his left clavicle in a brawl with the Padres (out at least two months) and Kobe Bryant (above), trying to lead the Lakers to an eighth straight playoff berth, tore his left Achilles (out for at least six months).
HOT: THINKING CAPS
Washington (23-17-2) blew a 5--1 lead to Tampa Bay last Saturday, but an OT goal by defenseman Mike Green (above) gave the Capitals a 6--5 win, their seventh straight. Said captain Alex Ovechkin, who scored his NHL-leading 27th goal, "It's good lessons right now for us."
