TheMMQB

Breaking Real Bad

After five seasons with the Cowboys and 12 games with the Bears, Sam Hurd's NFL career came to a crashing halt in December 2011, when the wide receiver and special teams standout was arrested on federal marijuana and cocaine distribution charges. Hurd pleaded guilty last April to conspiracy to traffic narcotics; he was scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 13 and faced life in prison. In an exclusive for TheMMQB.com, SI's Michael McKnight retraces Hurd's downfall and the collapse of his once promising NFL career. Read it now on SI's tablet edition and at TheMMQB.com
