MY BAG: Rory McIlroy

"My new driver is a huge addition. It's bigger (460 cc) than my previous one, which gives me more confidence to go at it aggressively. I get more ball speed, but added forgiveness seems to be a bigger help."

TECH TALK

Sole Mate

Titleist CB irons get a subtle makeover

Forged CB 714 irons, made from 1025 carbon steel, have center-of-gravity locations and blade lengths identical to the CB 712 to generate the same feel and ball flight. A new sole design with increased camber allows the clubhead to cut through turf more easily, regardless of a player's attack angle. The additional camber also makes it easier to control trajectory. The new CB has a straighter leading edge, less visual offset and a shallower face height in the 8-PW for a more compact look. Bill Haas, Tim Clark and Greg Chalmers are among the players using new CB irons on Tour. Set of eight: $999, steel; $1,199, graphite.
