Cliff, a 6'9" senior forward at Curie High, had 30 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks in a 73--69 upset of national No. 1 Montverde (Fla.) Academy at the Spalding Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass. Named to the junior national select team for April's Nike Hoop Summit, Cliff will play at Kansas.
Brittani Lanzilli | Medford, Mass. | Ice Hockey
Brittani, a senior forward at Medford High, had a hat trick in a 6--2 win over St. Joseph Prep/Mount Alvernia to become the third girl in state history to reach 300 career points. Her milestone came on an assist from her younger sister, Kayli. Through Sunday, Brittani had 180 goals and 123 assists.
Thomas Dunstan | New Canaan, Conn. | Water Polo
Thomas, a senior attacker at New Canaan High, had a goal in his U.S. national team debut and two more at the Volvo Cup in Szolnok, Hungary. The Cup squad's youngest player, he helped the youth national team earn silver at the UANA championships in Argentina last August.
Dezerea Bryant | Milwaukee | Indoor Track and Field
Bryant, a Kentucky junior, won the 200 meters in 22.82 seconds—the best time in the world this year—at the Doc Hale Virginia Tech Elite meet. Named to the watch list for the Bowerman Award, collegiate track's highest honor, Bryant also has the top NCAA time in the 60 this season (7.16).
Lucas Sipka | Mooresville, N.C. | Auto racing
Lucas, a third-grader at Rocky River Elementary who began quarter midget racing last April, had 10 firsts, four seconds and three thirds in 24 races to earn the North Carolina Quarter Midget Association's inaugural Rookie of the Year award. He also received the Sportsmanship Award.
Beatrice Capra | Ellicott City, Md. | Tennis
Capra, a Duke sophomore and the third-ranked player in the nation, went 3--1 in singles at the ITA team indoor championships, beating the No. 2 and No. 15 players before defeating top-ranked Robin Anderson of UCLA in the final to tie the team score. The Blue Devils went on to win 4--3.
