While the fact that Dylan Fosnacht struck out 17 batters in 14-plus innings is impressive (SCORECARD), I have to wonder why it is being celebrated. With so many pitchers needing Tommy John surgery, where is the outrage for a coach who allows a kid to throw 194 pitches?

Jonathan Toews is a first-class captain (Just Wins, Baby). He never complains, never makes excuses. He just leads by example, at times putting the Blackhawks on his shoulders and willing them to win. Not only should he have been a finalist for the 2014 Hart Trophy, but he also deserves to have won it.

Thank you so much for the inspiring Q&A with Li Na (SCORECARD). It was refreshing to read an article that not only talked about her athleticism, achievements and personal values but also gave insight into her struggles.

Adam Silver's banishment of Donald Sterling was the only decision he could make that would not draw criticism from the public. It was a no-brainer based on the financial well-being of the NBA.
Larry Thomas, Brookline, Mass.
Like most casual observers of the NBA, I had no idea who Adam Silver was when he took over as commissioner or what his credentials were. After reading Lee Jenkins's insightful cover story, I realized who he really is: the right man for the job.

Lionel Messi's new contract will not earn him more money annually than any player in the four major North American sports except Kobe Bryant for long. Next season Clayton Kershaw ($30 million) and Justin Verlander ($28 million) will make more.
