It was nice to see Tim Duncan, Kawhi Leonard (left) and the rest of the Spurs (Blast from the Pass) execute at such a high level while playing as a cohesive unit. Perhaps their win will be a lesson on teamwork for the rest of the NBA.

Mike Tyson's advice to LeBron about staying positive through any criticism (SCORECARD) was fantastic and is something I wish Tyson had adhered to during his boxing days. If Iron Mike's one-man show doesn't work out, maybe he should apply to take over the Dear Abby column.

What seems to be missing with schools from the East Coast moving to the Big Ten (The Long Play) is any regard for the student-athlete. With the additional travel for games out west, players will now be spending more time in airports than in the classroom.
John Larkin, Chicago
Your photo of Tony Gwynn (LEADING OFF) was classic. The sanitary stockings, the 1980s hairstyle, the '84 All-Star Game T-shirt and the reading of an actual newspaper are reminders of the not-so-distant past.

Thank you for your wonderful articles on Chuck Noll. I have to wonder how ESPN ranked him No. 5 among the NFL's 20 greatest coaches. The way he built the Steelers from the ground up to win four Super Bowls should have him at No. 1.
Paul Barile, Chicago
Martin Kaymer had one of the finest U.S. Open performances ever in his win at Pinehurst and all you can say is that he is a breakout performer? Did you forget about his 2010 PGA Championship or the Players Championship he won in May?

Lee Jenkins says that Tony Gwynn signed so many autographs that they are probably not worth a nickel. Well, I have one, and I would sacrifice my firstborn before I would give it up!
