Sydney McLaughlin | Dunellen, N.J. | Track and Field

Sydney, a rising sophomore at Union Catholic in Scotch Plains, set a national freshman and New Jersey record in the 400-meter hurdles with a 55.63, the second-fastest ever by a high school hurdler, at the USA Track & Field junior nationals in Eugene, Ore. She was runner-up to this year's NCAA champion, Shamier Little of Texas A&M, by .20 of a second.

Gelen Robinson | St. John, Ind. | Track, Wrestling, Football

Gelen, a Lake Central High grad, won the state discus title with a 197' 7" throw. He also ended his wrestling career with 101 straight wins, repeating as state champion; as a linebacker, he led the Indians to the sectional title with 100 tackles and 11 sacks. Gelen will play football at Purdue, the alma mater of his dad, Glenn, a two-time NBA All-Star.

Summer Moak | Katy, Texas | Cycling

Summer, a rising ninth-grader at the online Connections Academy, broke Olympian Sarah Hammer's 15--16 age-group national record in the 2K individual pursuit with a 2:35.255 at the junior track nationals in Carson, Calif. Summer, who rides for TWENTY16 Cycling's junior development team, swept all six events to win the age division.

Jeremy Ebobisse | Bethesda, Md. | Soccer

Jeremy, a striker and Walter Johnson High grad, scored four goals to help the Bethesda-Olney U-18 Academy team rally from a 2--0 deficit to beat the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-18 team 5--3 and reach the national U.S. Soccer Development Academy quarterfinals. Jeremy, who will play at Duke in the fall, leads the USSDA with 38 goals in 25 games.

Shelby Derr | West Liberty, Ohio | Equestrian

Shelby, a recently graduated home-schooler who rides for the Hancock Horsemen Equestrian Team out of Findlay, was named the Champion Western Rider in the varsity open division at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association western nationals in Oklahoma City. She took first in the reining event to win the overall title, beating out 11 riders.

Tate Matheny | St. Louis | Baseball

Matheny, a rising junior outfielder at Missouri State, led the USA Baseball collegiate national team to victory in the decisive third game of its series with Japan, driving in the first and last runs in a 7--0 win. The son of Cardinals manager Mike Matheny, Tate led the Bears with a .330 average and 10 homers in 2014 and repeated as team MVP.
