Weini, who recently moved to the U.S. from Eritrea and enrolled as a freshman at Heritage High, won the 5K Oatlands Invitational by 32 seconds in 18:12, despite stopping twice to tie a shoelace. Competing for Eritrea at world juniors in July, she placed eighth in the 3K with a personal best of 9:12.32.

Dante, a senior halfback at Oneida Nation High, rushed for 391 yards and five TDs on 18 carries and had three catches for 105 yards and two scores in a 48--28 win over Bowler/Gresham Community High. Through six games he has set single-season school marks for rushing yards (1,287) and TDs (23).
Sammie Staudt | Coatesville, Pa. | Golf
Sammie, a junior at Coatesville High, shot two holes in one in a nine-hole boys' team match against Avon Grove High, a 191--219 loss. She aced the 89-yard 5th hole and the 133-yard 8th at Inniscrone Golf Club to lead the team with an even-par 35. In July, Sammie won the girls' state junior title.
Jon Rahm | Barrika, Spain | Golf
Rahm, a junior at Arizona State, fired a 23-under 263 to win the individual title at the World Amateur Team Golf Championships in Karuizawa, Japan, beating a field of 201 from 67 countries and breaking Jack Nicklaus's event record of 269, set in 1960. Rahm has led the NCAA in eagles in each of the past two seasons.

The Pampuch twins, sophomore forwards at Edgewood College, netted their first goals in a 5--0 win over Maranatha Baptist. Taylor scored in the ninth minute; Jessie in the 48th, on her first touch.

Thomas, 30, a tech entrepreneur, and his father, Sean, 56, a real estate agent, won age-group golds at the world masters in Montreal, with the Olympic Club (30-plus) and with Santa Barbara (55-plus).
