Fortnite v29.01 patch notes: everything added in the March 19 update
It’s been almost two weeks since Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 dropped, and now we’re getting the first update of this cycle. While it’s not a massive content update, there is plenty worth mentioning here, with a new themed weapon, a few new items, and the groundwork for major future updates are all implemented in v29.01.
Here are our full Fortnite patch notes for update v29.01 so you know everything new that’s coming.
The Chains of Hades – Fortnite v29.01
To go with the Mythical Zeus’ Thunderbolt weapon added at the start of this season, we now have the Epic-tier Chains of Hades.
If you’ve ever attempted to fight Hades this season then you’ll have already faced them, these weapons can reach out and grab opponents, dragging them towards you and dealing heavy damage in the process, they’ve also received a damage buff now they’re becoming available in matches.
Drum Gun – Fortnite v29.01
Another standard weapon has been added too. Since a number of assault rifles and SMGs were vaulted at the end of last season, the Drum Gun has been re-added to buff their numbers. This old-fashioned Tommy Gun is a reliable weapon, if not the most flashy, and is now available in the standard loot pool.
Shield Bubble Jr – Fortnite v29.01
A new item has been added to the loot pool too in this update, as the Shield Bubble Jr is a variation on an existing item. As you might imagine from the name, the Shielf Bubble Jr does the same thing as the Shield Bubble, only smaller.
When thrown it creates a shield covering a small area around where it landed, which prevents all projectiles from coming in or out of the bubble while it’s active. This can give you a quick reprieve in the middle of a battle or force opponents to get in close range.
LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing UEFN framework – Fortnite v29.01
UEFN modes for LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing have been rumored for a while, and this update lays the groundwork for these modes, although it’s not officially introducing them just yet. Whether in the next update or one later down the road, this will allow players to create custom maps in LEGO Fortnite, and custom race tracks in Rocket Racing.
