Fantastic beasts and where to find them in Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy is full of fantastic beasts. If you're looking for where to find them, you've come to the right place. In this guide, we'll tell you where you can find every beast in Hogwarts Legacy, with a list of dens for each region of the map, on top of a great Den location for each type of Beast that you can capture in the game.

Diricawl Den locations

An essential creature for early quests for your Beasts classes, the Diricawl is a Dodo-like bird. You’ll need its feathers for a variety of gear upgrades, so make note of this Diricawl location on top of the cliff, Southeast of the West Hogwarts Valley Floo Flame.

Puffskein Den locations

The Puffskein is likely one of the first beasts you’ll come across, and that’s because they’re everywhere, even on the path between Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.

Fwooper Den locations

The Fwooper den map location in Hogwarts Legacy.

The Fwooper bird is fairly common and is most easily found just Northwest of Feldcroft.

Mooncalf Den locations

The Mooncalf map location in Hogwarts Legacy, close to Feldcroft.

Another reasonably common creature, the humble Mooncalf can be located just South of Feldcroft near the cliffs.

Niffler Den locations

There are plenty of Niffler dens in Hogwarts Legacy, but the one North of Pitt-Upon-Ford is the easiest to find, as shown in the map location above.

Another common creature, Nifflers are everywhere, and most easily found at the Northernmost den, just North of Pitt-Upon-Ford.

Giant Purple Toad Den locations

Go East of Upper Hogsfield and you'll find the Giant Purple Toad den on the Hogwarts Legacy map above.

East of Upper Hogsfield, near the fork in the river, you’ll find a den for Giant Purple Toads.

Graphorn Den locations

You have to reach a certain story point to grab the Graphorn from the den in the Hogwarts Legacy map above.

From the North, all the way to the South. If you want to find Graphorn, a fairly rare beast, you’ll need to go to the Southernmost point on the map, Southeast of the Clagmar Castle Floo Flame.

This Graphorn den may be empty for you, in which case you need our full Graphorn guide.

Hippogriff Den locations

Go to the map location above, Northeast of Feldcroft, to catch a Hippogriff in Hogwarts Legacy.

The Hippogriff is a fan-favorite creature, and also fairly rare. Luckily there’s an easily accessible Hippogriff Den just Northeast of Feldcroft.

Jobberknoll Den locations

Grab a Jobberknoll from the Hogwarts Legacy map location above, close to the North Ford Bog Entrance Floo Flame.

The Jobberknoll can be found in several locations, and can be most easily found just East of the North Ford Bog Entrance Floo Flame.

Kneazle Den locations

Kneazles can be found in the South Sea Bog, at the map location above in Hogwarts Legacy.

Travel down to the South Sea Bog and the Beast Den here belongs to the Kneazle.

Thestral Den locations

Travel to the Hogwarts Legacy map location above, close to the Coastal Mine Floo Flame, to grab a Thestral in Hogwarts Legacy.

You can find Thestral in several locations, such as Southeast of the Coastal Mine Floo Flame.

Unicorn Den locations

Unicorns are always rare in fiction and Hogwarts Legacy is no different. Here's where to find them on the map.

The Unicorn is extremely rare, and can only be found in a single den, West of Upper Hogsfield. These creatures are tough to get, so make sure to follow our where to find a unicorn guide.

Phoenix Den locations

What's even more rare than a Unicorn? No, not Unicorn turds - a Phoenix. In fact, there aren't even any dens, so here's a photo of one flying instead.

The Phoenix is even rarer than the unicorn, and we’ve got a guide on how to catch the Phoenix. Spoiler alert: there are no Phoenix Dens in the game, and you cannot catch a female Phoenix to breed with.

Shiny Beasts

There are even rarer forms of beasts in the game known as Shiny Beasts. Shiny Beasts are indicated by a cross-shape star on the end of their names. You will have to regularly search beast dens and perhaps even reload your game in hopes of finding one of these.
