This iron giant is nothing to be afraid of – if you use the best Registeel counters, that is. The Steel-type Legendary appears in Pokémon Go’s 5-Star 5-Star Raids from February 1 to 8, 2023, while also being available in its Shadow version from battles against Giovanni. It’s an exciting time for any fan of the chonky robot creature.

Shiny collectors and PvP enthusiasts both should be on the lookout for this monster, as Registeel is an excellent option in several competitive GO Battle League formats – much more so in its regular form than the Shadow variant.

Best Registeel counters – Pokémon Go

Registeel is a pure Steel-type, which means that you have a variety of counter options at your disposal: Fighting, Ground, and Fire are fantastic move types against this raid boss. There is also very little to worry about in return, as Registeel’s moves aren’t especially dangerous to the Pokémon you should bring for this battle.

  1. Mega Blaziken (Counter, Blast Burn)
  2. Mega Charizard Y (Fire Spin, Blast Burn)
  3. Reshiram (Fire Fang, Fusion Flare)
  4. Terrakion (Double Kick, Sacred Sword)
  5. Mega Charizard X (Fire Spin, Blast Burn)
  6. Mega Alakazam (Counter, Focus Blast)
  7. Keldeo (Low Kick, Sacred Sword)
  8. Chandelure (Fire Spin, Overheat)
  9. Mega Houndoom (Fire Fang, Flamethrower)
  10. Lucario (Counter, Aura Sphere)
  11. Ho-Oh (Incinerate, Sacred Fire++)
  12. Darmanitan (Fire Fang, Overheat)
  13. Moltres (Fire Spin, Overheat)
  14. Mega Salamence (Fire Fang, Fire Blast)
  15. Conkeldurr (Counter, Dynamic Punch)

Registeel commands a modest 33,516 competitive points (CP) and can be caught in a CP range that lets it participate in the Great League. Thanks to some counter options, particularly from the Fire-type, you should be able to defeat Registeel in trios if you’re around level 40 and have Pokémon of that strength. Registeel is quite a tough opponent thanks to its toughness, so even with great attackers it takes a while to melt it down.
