Contents
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has so many hidden secrets and gimmicks to exploit as you make your way across Hyrule that you’d be forgiven for being totally unaware of some of the coolest hidden items in the game. In this guide, we’re talking about the Earthwake technique.
The Earthwake technique is what Yiga Clan Blademasters will use on you, literally bursting air and rocks from the ground against foes. Link can use this ability after earning the Earthwake Manual, but getting it can be complicated.
Just read through our guide below for everything you need to unlock the Earthwake technique in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Infiltrating the Yiga Clan quest – Zelda TOTK
In order to enter the Yiga Clan Hideout without being attacked by assassins, Link must first find the full Yiga Clan armor set. Make sure to find it all first by using our Yiga armor locations guide.
Once that’s done you’ll be able to enter the Yiga Clan Hideout which is East of the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower.
Yiga Combat Training – Zelda TOTK
Once inside the Yiga Clan Hideout, make your way to the training room. The Yiga member at the back won’t open the gate into the final chamber until you complete the training. Climb to the top of the tower in the center of the room and talk to the Yiga Blademaster. It costs 100 Rupees per training attempt, but the rewards are well worth the cost.
Each training session tasks you with quickly defeating Yiga Assassins. You’ll fare better if you have powerful weapons before taking on the challenge, obviously, so make sure to stock up if you’re struggling.
Yiga Combat Training rewards – Zelda TOTK
Below are all of the rewards you can get for undertaking Yiga Combat Training.
- Yiga Fabric – defeat 3 enemies.
- Earthwake Manual – defeat 6 enemies.
- Lightning Helm – defeat 10 enemies.
Each attempt costs 100 Rupees, but the challenge itself is fairly simple. If you succeed on your first attempt each time, you should get all of the rewards for just 300 Rupees – a bargain for the Lightning Helm alone.
How to use the Earthwake Manual – Zelda TOTK
Using the Earthwake Manual is easy: while standing on the ground with no weapons equipped, use the attack button to summon an Earthwake. Hold the button for longer to make it travel further before letting go to make it burst.
