Against the Storm is the best city-builder of 2023 and developer Eremite Games is already hard at work to make the recently-released game even better. Publisher Hooded Horse just posted the official Against the Storm roadmap for 2024, revealing that several free updates as well as paid DLC are in the pipeline to enlarge the scope of the indie hit.

Update 1.1 has already been released and brought a few new orders and decorations as well as art assets to the game. Against the Storm’s next patch, Update 1.2, will bring a production and consumption trends screen to allow players to better understand the inner workings of their city, some upgrades to Blightposts, fresh art assets for world events, and Latin American Spanish localization. Afterwards, Update 1.3 is on the agenda – though no word on its contents just yet.

Against the Storm will get DLC in 2024 :: Eremite Games / Hooded Horse

It looks like after Update 1.3, Eremite Games wants to be ready to ship Against the Storm’s first paid DLC. Content pieces the team will be “exploring over the coming months” for the DLC are more playable species, an additional biome, new buildings, events, perks, and orders. It looks like those plans are not set in stone by any means so far and we’re probably not going to hear any precise details before the second half of the year.

However, Hooded Horse’s statement makes clear that the Against the Storm DLC is planned to actually get a 2024 release date: “At least two new major patches are planned, and the team is also committed to releasing DLC later this year.”

Against the Storm was released on December 8, 2023, after being available via Early Access for about a year, during which Eremite executed a textbook update and development process during which it closely listened to community feedback and successfully implemented it.

Against the Storm is available on Steam and can be played via PC Game Pass.
