15 Best Steam Spring Sale Deals
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader – $39.99
It’s hard to describe Warhammer Rogue Trader succinctly, so I won’t try. Suffice to say it’s an ambitious and exciting adaptation of the Warhammer formula with writing that shines, characters that appall and intrigue in equal measure, and turn-based battles that demand careful planning. This is a massive game and an unforgettable one, and you can get it for $39.99.
Diablo 4 – $34.99
Blizzard’s action game had a rough start at first, with an endgame that left you almost nothing worthwhile to do. Several balance fixes and seasons over the last nine months fixed most of those problems, so what you’re left with is a robust ARPG that perfects Diablo 3’s formula and no shortage of ways to build your ideal fighter. You can grab it for $34.99.
Street Fighter 6 – $39.59
The best fighting game of 2023 is down to $39.59, and better still, it works beautifully on Steam Deck. The real draw is – as always with Street Fighter – the robust online modes and multiplayer matches, but there’s a solid single-player campaign if you want to play alone. Street Fighter 6 is newcomer-friendly with plenty of helpful tutorials as well, so if this is your first fighting game, you should have an easy time learning the ropes.
Starfield – $46.89
Bethesda’s massive space game is over $20 off its usual price, and you get the added advantage of several months’ worth of updates and fixes that mean it actually plays well now. If wandering around space, building ships, exploring massive planets, and piecing together mysteries of an ancient civilization sound like your kind of thing, then Starfield is for you.
Hitman: World of Assassination – $27.99
IO Interactive made things a bit confusing with Hitman 3 and the stealth game’s many access passes, but World of Assassination simplifies it nicely. For $27.99, you get Hitman 1, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3, plus (almost) all the DLC, including Patient Zero. New York and Haven Island are locked behind the more expensive deluxe edition, but that’s just two maps, compared to the almost- two-dozen in the standard edition.
Stardew Valley – $11.49
If you’ve never played Stardew Valley, now’s the time to fix that when the hit farming game is down to $11.49. Okay sure, that’s not a huge discount, but less than $12 for multiple free expansions on top of the already-robust base game, plus more on the way in Stardew 1.6, is a pretty good deal. Practically any PC can run it, and since it’s the game’s PC version, you can tailor it to your exact tastes with mods as well.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade – $34.99
FF7 Rebirth might be getting all the attention now, but you can grab the full Remake package for $34.99 during the Steam spring sale. It’s the base game and the very good Yuffie DLC chapter with, admittedly, a paltry selection of PC customization options. This not-a-remake, not-a-sequel might baffle with its narrative decisions, but at its heart is a meaningful expansion on everything that made the original game worthwhile.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – $31.49
This one comes with a caveat: Jedi Survivor’s PC performance still isn’t that great. It’s less of a problem if you’ve got a good CPU, but you might still struggle to get good performance. If that’s not a massive problem for you, then you’re getting a thoughtful evolution of Respawn’s Star Wars vision for half price.
If it is a massive problem, consider getting Fallen Order. It’s going for $3.99.
Persona 5 Royal – $29.99
Persona 5 Royal took an already excellent RPG and added new characters, better combat, and a fresh narrative arc that polished some of the original’s thematic roughness. It’s a proper chonker, but it’s also one of the best anime games around right now. It runs beautifully on Steam Deck and is going for $29.99.
NieR Automata – $15.99
The critically acclaimed NieR Automata is on sale for just $15.99, and the combination of Yoko Taro’s storytelling with Platinum’s action is one you won’t want to miss. NieR Automata follows a crack squad of android fighters working for humans trying to reclaim Earth from evil machines. It’s typically Yoko Taro, which also means it swings between heartwarming and heartbreaking.
Cassette Beasts – $13.99
Plenty of monster-catchers that want to be like Pokemon games, but Cassette Beasts is a step above most of them thanks to one feature: It does its own thing. Cassette Beasts combines open-world adventuring with inventive monster battles using creatures that are essentially mix tapes. It’s an inventive twist on a familiar genre, and you can see for yourself for $13.99.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon – $11.99
Ichiban Kasuga’s first big adventure has its price slashed to $11.99, which is almost a steal for an RPG of this quality. Like A Dragon is the series’ first attempt at turn-based combat and a more sedate structure similar to, well, an RPG instead of an action game. Ichiban, wrongfully imprisoned and kicked out of the yakuza – the only family he’s ever known – struggles to rise from rock bottom and rebuild a life for himself, while helping those in need and getting to the heart of the corruption that stole everything from him.
Dead Cells – $12.49
One of the best roguelikes in the last decade is at a pretty steep discount of $12.49. Dead Cells puts you in the manky shoes of an undead prisoner trying his best to get out of the cycle of death and rebirth, and usually failing. But it’s a roguelike, which means with every failure, you’re amassing a small arsenal of weapons and skills along the way. Plus the soundtrack is excellent.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition – $13.49
Before Baldur’s Gate 3 was Divinity: Original Sin 2, another exceptional RPG from Larian Studios with a lot of the flair that makes Baldur’s Gate 3 so good. Divinity’s narrative unfolds from multiple perspectives and changes depending on the choices you make, and its combat system, unhindered by obtuse D&D rules, is even better than BG3’s. Just don’t go in expecting the same level of cinematic polish, as there isn’t any.
You can grab this gem for $13.49.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns – $14.99
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a lot of things – deckbuilding superhero game, Fire Emblem-like social game, and criminally underappreciated, to name a few. It’s an excellent strategy game with thoughtful social elements that add new dimensions to familiar heroes, a welcome change from the usual licensed fare that gets by on banter and flash alone. You can grab it for $14.99.
