Every highlight from the Capcom Showcase in June 2023
Most of the Not-E3 2023 events have tried to cater to both American and European audiences in terms of starting times, but tonight’s Capcom Showcase didn’t really try to conform to that – any European wanting to catch the event live had to severely disrupt their sleeping schedule.
With the actual showcase bit running for under an hour it wasn’t the longest event of the season at least, so there’s really not too much you missed if you didn’t watch it live. We’ve got all the important highlights right here for you.
Capcom announced that an Apollo Justice Ace Attorney trilogy is in the works for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Set to release at some point in early 2024, the games take place a few years after the original Phoenix Wright titles, following Wright’s daughter and his apprentice, the titular Apollo. The gameplay will be familiar to anyone knowing the series and sees you collect evidence and present it before court.
Exoprimal, Capcom’s multiplayer third-person shooter featuring mechs and dinosaurs, is getting a second open beta. This test will run from June 16 to 18, 2023, and will include a new mode as well as several improvements based on feedback from the first phase of open testing. Probably one of the biggest points in this regard is that players will now receive more rewards based on how quickly they finished a mission. Previously, rewards were based on how much PvP combat they engaged with, which didn’t sit well with many participants in the test who expected more of a PvE game.
A new trailer for the game also introduced the Deadeye Alpha, a brand-new mech variation. Exoprimal launches for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S on July 14, 2023.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was another big-ticket item at the showcase and Capcom added some new tidbits of information as it once again showed a trailer that had already been unveiled during the PlayStation event earlier this in Not-E3 season. Among these info pieces was the fact that the open world of the game will be four times as big as the predecessor’s.
The Pawns will make their return and feature all-new abilities and an improved AI that’s able to guide you to secrets and new locations. We’re still waiting for a release date, though.
