Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor sold over one million copies since it launched into Early Access on February 14, 2024, marking another huge milestone in the title’s young history.

Along with this happy announcement, Funday Games and Ghost Ship Publishing revealed more information about the game’s first content update since becoming available. Becoming available on March 20, 2024, the patch will add a brand-new biome for players to explore and survive in – the Salt Pits.

These areas found on Hoxxes IV hold familiar treasures and enemies, but provide clever miners with an important advantage: Targeting specific stalagmite clusters enables players to rain down a hail of rocks on the unsuspecting aliens, hopefully creating some holes in the swarm.

In addition to the Salt Pits, one additional bug type will be introduced. The Q’ronar Younglings are slippery and nasty fellows, which pose a challenge to miners.

Huuli Hoarders, which were mistakenly communicated to be part of this update at first, are presumably on the agenda for the future.

Many games have tried and failed to captivate the same magic as Vampire Survivors, which was the initial title that kicked off the hype around auto-shooters in recent years. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, however, managed to not only provide a satisfying gameplay loop, but was able to bring some real innovation to the genre, perfectly leveraging what makes the Deep Rock Galactic IP unique and special and transporting those aspects into the auto-shooter genre.

Deservedly, the title shipped half a million copies in the first week after launch and reached a million sales in its first month on the market.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is currently available for PC and Steam Deck at a price of $9.99 USD.
