Immortals of Aveum, which is set to be released on August 22, 2023, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S after a slight delay, is a visual spectacle – magic missiles flying all over the screen, dragons hovering above wide battlefields, explosions going off everywhere. Published by EA Originals and developed by Ascendant Studios, this single-player game takes inspiration from fantasy, sci-fi, and military shooters, combining it into something fresh.

The Immortals of Aveum Unpacked Trailer, which was published today, gives prospective fans a glimpse into the action-packed gameplay, providing four minutes of spectacular footage:

The video also serves as an illustration for a wave of newly released information about the game on EA’s blog, introducing the title’s mechanics. As you might have already read in our hands-on preview or our reveal feature for Immortals of Aveum, the first-person shooter’s world comes with three types of magic, represented as the colors red, blue, and green. In basic terms, they mimic different classes of guns – assault rifles, sniper rifles, and shotguns.

It’s magic, though, so there’s a lot more to it. That’s where Furies come into play. They are very powerful spells a step above your usual attack magic and require specific Fury Mana to be cast. Outside of battle, Augment magic will help you move faster, reach previously inaccessible spots, or solve puzzles. That, in turn, allows you to find even stronger spells.

Dominion spells are the most devastating kind of magic and slowly charge up over time during battles. They combine all three colors of magic and your character, Jak, will be able to use one of these massive attacks, known as Immolate.

Various equipment types allow you to master your control of magic and boost certain abilities, enabling you to focus your build and adapt to the circumstances.
