Star Wars Outlaws release date set for August 2024

Leaked ahead of the story trailer's debut
Ubisoft / Disney

The Star Wars Outlaws release date is earlier than expected: Ubisoft Massive’s open-world RPG will be in players’ hands on August 30, 2024. This date will be officially announced later today – it was supposed to be the grand finale of the story trailer premiering on YouTube today. However, a leaky description on the Japanese version of said premiere gave the game away early and was spotted by Gematsu. It’s been taken down in the meantime.

That said, release dates accompanying story trailers is nothing new for Ubisoft titles and with the discovery of promotional materials to support the game’s pre-order campaign at GameStop over the past weekend, this reveal isn’t all too shocking.

It looks like the game will be available in several different editions and will feature an array of paid post-launch content. The Gold and Ultimate Editions of Outlaws will contain a Season Pass and three days of Early Access, according to Gematsu.

Coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and GeForce NOW, Star Wars Outlaws is set in the time between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It follows protagonist Kay Vess, an outlaw trying to leave her scoundrel ways in the past – but to do so, she must pull off the most dangerous heist of her career yet.

At her side is a cute as well as useful pet companion called Nix, who is played by Dee Bradley Baker, whom Star Wars fans will recognize as the voice actor for the Clone Troopers in Dave Filoni’s animated shows. A former Separatist BX Commando Droid assists her as well. With familiar planets and faces – such as Tatooine and Jabba the Hutt – as well as newly introduced locations and characters, there’s plenty of stuff for Star Wars fans to look forward to.

The story trailer will premiere on YouTube at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 6pm CEST on April 9, 2024.
