Starfield DLSS support is coming in feature update
Bethesda has announced several features it wants to add to Starfield in the coming weeks and months. Among these are highly requested elements such as official support for Nvidia DLSS and a FOV slider people can use to adjust their field of view – an essential tool for people who may get sick playing with the standard settings. Other items on the list are brightness and contrast controls, an HDR calibration menu, 32:9 ultrawide monitor support, and a button to eat food.
While it’s certainly commendable that Bethesda wants to deliver all of this, one has to ask why many of these features were not in the game to start with. Not having a FOV slider in your FPS game is simply bad in this day and age, no way around it.
“This is a game we’ll be supporting for years and years to come, so please keep all the feedback coming! Even if we don’t get to your requests immediately, we’d love to do it in the future, like city maps. Our priority initially is making sure any top blocker bugs or stability issues are addressed, and adding quality-of-life features that many are asking for,” Bethesda stated on social media.
Starfield’s first update will be a small hotfix for some top issues, the company explained, after which it would turn to the above list of features. “We’re also working closely with Nvidia, AMD, and Intel on driver support, and each update will include new stability and performance improvements,” the statement continued.
Bethesda also wants to add built-in mod support across platforms like for Skyrim and Fallout 4, which is planned to launch early in 2024. Modders on PC are welcome to send any feedback in regards to their work, the company announced: “Modding and creating in our games will always be a vital and important part of who we are, and we love seeing the community get off to such a strong start.”
