ICYMI: There’s a free Street Fighter 6 demo out now
Capcom released a Street Fighter 6 demo that’s free for everyone – everyone who owns a PS5, that is. The PS5 version is available now, and the Xbox and Steam version will launch on April 26, 2023.
The demo gives you a chance to experience the first part of Street Fighter 6’s World Tour, which acts as the fighting game’s story mode. The avatar you can create for World Tour is also usable in the game’s online battle hub, and they’ll still be there when the full game launches.
World Tour sends your character, well, around the world, seeking expert fighters to learn from in places such as Metro City and Nayshall. The mentors you search for are the new Street Fighter game’s 18 playable fighters and feature iconic characters including Chun-Li, Ryu, and Ken. That’s just part of the journey, though. Your fledgling fighter will learn the ropes by completing quests and picking fights with local hoodlums and, in some cases, sentient refrigerators. Why not.
Each mentor teaches your fighter their signature moves, and you can deepen relationships with your teachers to unlock new missions and other bonuses. Food items bought from merchants grant buffs in battle, and winning fights grants you skill points you can spend to unlock new abilities.
Capcom also revealed four additional fighters coming to Street Fighter 6 in its first year after launch:
- Rashid (summer 2023)
- A.K.I. (fall 2023)
- Akuma (spring 2024)
- Ed (winter 2024)
There’s a lot going on in Street Fighter 6, and you don’t have long to wait to get your hands on it. Street Fighter 6 launches for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on June 2, 2023.
