The Animal Crossing series focuses on allowing you to live a simulated life among cute anthropomorphic animal friends.
Players are able to build their own island, placing down houses and inviting NPCs to live with them while fulfilling a range of daily tasks such as catching bugs and fish or foraging for shells and other items that wash up on the beach.
In-game, the time is the same as your console's clock, so your island syncs up with your day-to-day life. You are also able to visit other players' islands online and trade fruit with each other.
Players also take advantage of an economy built around the value of turnips, storing them away until they are at their highest price of the week, then selling them on for maximum profit.
