God of War Ragnarok continues the story of Kratos and his son, Atreus, as they navigate the land of the Norse gods. It expands upon the last game by bringing those gods to the forefront, allowing for confrontations with both Odin and Thor.
Kratos gets access to new weapons and abilities, and some sections allow you to play as Atreus, complete with his own unique fighting style.
You're free to explore all of the nine realms, some of which feature open areas full of secrets and treasure chests. Some of these areas can be explored by boat and others can be explored on a sled.
God of War Ragnarok massively increases the number of enemies you face, from human raiders to giant alligators. There are also more boss battles, the lack of which in the previous game was a major criticism.
The sequel achieved a high score on review aggregate website Metacritic, with critics reaching a consensus of overwhelmingly favorable. Our own God of War Ragnarok review calls it the best game of 2022.
