Hideo Kojima is a Japanese game designer who is most famous for Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding. Formerly employed by Konami, these days he heads up his own studio, Kojima Productions.
Known as a visionary creator, Kojima's games often feature original ideas and mechanics. In Metal Gear Solid, players had to plug in a second controller to damage a telepathic boss character.
In Metal Gear Solid 3, one boss character could die of old age if the player took too long to reach them.
Death Stranding might look like an ordinary action game, but it's essentially a mountaineering game. Using a mechanic called the Strand system, structures created by other players can appear in your world, reinforcing the story of a broken civilization attempting to reconnect.
Kojima once wanted to create a game that deleted itself when the player died, and he also considered making a game cartridge smell of blood once it heated up.
