No. 22 Rutgers pushes past Northeastern 74-60

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) Betnijah Laney had 14 points with 13 rebounds, Briyona Canty finished with 12 points and 10 assists, and No. 22 Rutgers pushed past Northeastern 74-60 on Tuesday night.

The Scarlet Knights shot 53.3 percent from the field and had four starters score in double figures. Tyler Scaife scored 15 points and Kahleah Cooper had 10.

Rutgers (2-0) overcame an early 12-6 deficit and pulled ahead with an 18-2 run spanning from the end of the first half to the 17:19 mark in the second. Rachel Hollivay made two free throws and a layup to spark a 12-0 surge that put the Scarlet Knights up by 27 with 10:58 left.

Northeastern (1-1) sank nine 3-pointers, but were held to 18-of-49 shooting overall and committed 22 turnovers. Tiffany Montagne led the Huskies with 22 points, while Samantha DeFreese and Kazzidy Stewart had 13 apiece.
