ACC leading rebounder transfers from Virginia to Gamecocks

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) Atlantic Coast Conference rebounding leader Sarah Imovbioh of Virginia has signed to play her final season with South Carolina.

Imovbioh, a 6-foot-2 forward from Nigeria, spent the past three seasons with the Cavaliers. She's graduating next month and can play next season with the Gamecocks.

Imovbioh led the ACC at 10.8 rebounds a game last year. She was 19th nationally.

Imovbioh will help bulk up South Carolina's front court, which is losing its starting forwards, 6-foot Aleighsa Welch and 6-4 Elem Ibiam.

Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley says Imovbioh's transfer was a ''true gift to our program.''

Imovbioh joins 5-8 guard Shay Colley from Ontario, Canada, in South Carolina's signing class.

South Carolina advanced to its first Final Four this month.
