No. 20 South Florida women pull away from SMU 66-48
DALLAS (AP) Courtney Williams scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half and No. 20 South Florida pulled away for a 66-48 win over SMU on Sunday.
Shalethia Stringfield added 14 points and Maria Jespersen and Kitija Laksa had 12 apiece for the Bulls (15-5, 8-2 American), who shot just 32 percent (20 of 63) from the field but made 23 of 29 free throws, including all 10 in the fourth quarter.
USF closed the first half with an 8-0 run for a 33-26 lead as the Mustangs went the last 3:08 without scoring. A 3-pointer by Morgan Bolton pulled SMU within four at 6:23 of the third quarter but Williams had five points as the Bulls answered with an 11-0 run.
McKenzie Adams had 15 points for SMU (9-11, 4-5), which shot 30 percent and had 20 turnovers the Bulls turned into 29 points.
