SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) Wagner guard Jasmine Nwajei, the leading scorer in Division I women's basketball last season, is transferring to Syracuse, Orange coach Quentin Hillsman announced Tuesday.

In three seasons at Wagner, Nwajei set the program record with 2,039 points. She scored a school-record 841 points in 2015-16, averaging 28.7 points to lead the nation and earn Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention accolades.

Because of NCAA transfer rules, Nwajei will not be able to play until the 2017-18 season. She will have one year of eligibility.

The Orange women are coming off an impressive season. They set school records with five wins against nationally ranked opponents, 13 conference victories, and 30 overall victories.

Syracuse also appeared in its first national championship game, falling to perennial power UConn in the title game.
