COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) South Carolina is adding former longtime Vanderbilt coach Melanie Balcomb to its women's basketball staff to direct offensive analytics.

Balcomb spent the past 14 seasons leading the Commodores. She was let go this past winter after Vanderbilt missed the NCAA Tournament for a second straight year.

Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley said Balcomb will help the staff by providing analytical data about on-court performance. Balcomb will not coach the team on court.

South Carolina has won the past three Southeastern Conference titles.

Staley said Balcomb will bring an additional perspective to the Gamecocks coaching staff. Balcomb will start her duties Friday.
