UCLA Basketball: Dylan Andrews Credits Role Player for Contributions in Limited Playing Time
The UCLA Bruins dropped their fourth loss to Washington State, falling to a 77-65 final score. Since the team's six-game win streak, things have not been going that great.
Star sophomore Dylan Andrews still managed to put up 21 points despite the team's loss. Though the starting five all nearly notched double-digit points, Andrews shouted out freshman Aday Mara.
Mara was once the favorite for an expanded role but has since dropped out of head coach Mick Cronin's favor. Still, Mara came in and scored four points, with his effort being recognized by Andrews.
"I love when we have guys that come in just ready to play and just prepare. I feel like Aday did that. He gave us some strong minutes and we love him for that."
Mara only logged four minutes, but he still managed to secure four points in that time. Four minutes can go by really quickly, and his ability to log some much-needed baskets was enough to garner praise from his teammates.
The Bruins have two final regular season games before they engage in the Pac-12 Tournament. While Mara might not have secured his chance to start, his ability to come off the bench and make an impact is something that the team needs right now.
