Marlins Set Lineup to Finally Face a Righty Starter

The Miami Marlins have been dreadful against lefty starters this season

Is today the day for the Miami Marlins?

They’re in the win column, finally, thanks to taking the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, but it’s been rough since then, with the New York Yankees holding them to two runs in the first two games of the series.

Game three is tonight, with Miami hoping that Ryan Weathers can get them a win, but he’s facing off against red-hot starter Yankees starter Marcus Stroman. At least he's a right-handed pitcher, though; Miami's faced seven lefty starters this season and is batting just .175/.236/.256 against them.

Lineups for the Miami Marlins and New York Yankees on Wednesday, April 10th

Here's how the Marlins will line up for the contest:

2B Luis Arraez
1B Josh Bell
3B Jake Burger
CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.
RF Jesús Sánchez
SS Tim Anderson
DH Bryan De La Cruz
LF Nick Gordon
C Nick Fortes

Weathers hasn’t been bad in his first two starts this season, but that doesn’t mean he’s been great, either - six runs (four earned) on ten hits in his nine innings, striking out eleven while walking five.

He’s mostly an unknown quantity to the Yankees - only thirteen total at-bats among four players - but the two most frequent opponents have hit him well: former Padres teammate Juan Soto is 3-5 with a homer, while Anthony Rizzo is 4-5.

Here's how the Yankees will line up for the series opener:

SS Anthony Volpe
RF Juan Soto
CF Aaron Judge
DH Giancarlo Stanton
1B Anthony Rizzo
2B Gleyber Torres
LF Alex Verdugo
3B Jon Berti
C Jose Trevino

Stroman’s been great this season, going 1-0 in his first two starts with a 0.00 ERA (he’s got three unearned runs in there) and pitching twelve innings with seven hits, three walks, and ten strikeouts. Let’s see if Miami sends Avisaíl García out there as a pinch-hitter today: He’s batting 6-13 against Stroman, while Jake Burger (1-5), Tim Anderson (5-20), and Nick Fortes (2-6) have all taken Stroman deep.
