Luka Dončić was unstoppable on Friday night in Atlanta, laughing off the taunts of Hawks fans and torching the home team with a record-setting 73-point effort in the Dallas Mavs’ 148–143 victory.

Dončić also chipped in 10 rebounds and seven assists while shooting 25-of-33 from the field. … and etching his name in the history books alongside other one-name legends.

Wilt! Kobe! Luka!

“I was just going,” said Luka in a modest summary of his night.

Dončić shattered the Mavericks’ single-game scoring record with the 73-point flurry, beating out his own 60-point performance against the New York Knicks in December 2022.

That’s big. But it’s only the start.

This monumental output is also tied for the fourth-highest scoring effort in NBA history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain (100 points), Kobe Bryant (81 points) and Chamberlain again (78 points).

Dončić is the 10th player in league history to score 70 or more points and the fourth to do so in the last year. … all of which impressed the likes of fellow Mavs icon Dirk Nowitzki and Warriors champion Draymond Green, who termed the performance “unreal.”

Luka is now averaging 34.6 points, 9.2 assists, and 8.6 rebounds on the season.

"Picasso,” said Mavs coach Jason Kidd of the artistry of the 24-year-old superstar. “This is one of his best paintings. This will sell at a high price."
