Joe Mixon Bluntly Responds to Speculation That Bengals Will Cut Him

The Cincinnati Bengals have a decision to make regarding the future of running back Joe Mixon, who enters the final year of his contract in 2024.

There’s been some speculation that the Bengals could look to cut Mixon at a cost of $2.75 million rather than keep him around. If on the roster, the 27-year-old would incur a cap hit of $8.85 million, so the team would effectively save a bit over $6 million by moving on this offseason.

Amid the rumors that Mixon could wind up hitting free agency, the seven-year veteran took to social media and bluntly responded to a report that Cincinnati might be ready to move on.

“Lmao y’all said this last year too,” Mixon posted to social media before dismissing the speculation as being “clown behavior.”

Mixon, a second-round pick in 2017, has spent his entire seven-year career with the Bengals. He has made one Pro Bowl with the franchise and is coming off his fourth season with over 1,000 rushing yards.

Mixon has scored 37 total touchdowns over the last three seasons, but it’s possible his time in Cincinnati has reached its end.

He was quick to remind fans on social media that this isn’t unfamiliar territory for him, and that similar speculation was running rampant last offseason, too.
