The Country Reacts to Former Florida State Commit KJ Bolden Signing With Georgia

Bolden has been committed to FSU for over four months but spurned the Seminoles during the Early Signing Period.

The Early Signing Period for high school recruits is finally here, and Florida State continues to sign some of the nation's best athletes from the 2024 class. Throughout the morning and into the afternoon of December 20th things had been looking good for the Seminoles as they were able to sign all committed players. However, when it came to landing the program's top commit in safety KJ Bolden, the Seminoles were unable to close the deal.

The nation's best safety announced his commitment to FSU in early August and had been a vocal Seminole pledge until 1 P.M. when he announced he would sign with Georgia at his signing ceremony at Buford High School.

This last-minute flip comes just two years after now-Colorado star Travis Hunter flipped his longtime commitment to FSU and opted to play for Deion Sanders at Jackson State.

Just this past weekend, Bolden was in Tallahassee for his official visit and was able to speak to the media regarding his decision. When asked if he would sign with FSU, Bolden gave a reassuring response to FSU fans.

"Come on man, you know that," Bolden previously said to NoleGameday's Dustin Lewis. "I can't really speak too much on that. I just got my papers [Letter of Intent] today."

In today's world of college football, situations like this are becoming more common, as committed players continue to hear out any final recruiting pitches in the last minutes before they sign the dotted line.

As Bolden would have seemingly been a major part of the FSU defense as early as next season, the loss is a major hit for the Seminoles. For this reason, countless Florida State fans quickly took to social media to voice their opinions regarding what will possibly be a moment that haunts FSU for years to come.
