BREAKING: Dug McDaniel Is In The Transfer Portal

Michigan's basketball program is going to be a complete rebuild for whoever the new coach is.

There were bound to be massive changes to Michigan's basketball program following the firing of Juwan Howard and today marks the biggest roster move thus far. Per reports, sophomore point guard Dug McDaniel has entered the transfer portal.

As the tweet says, McDaniel averaged 16.3 points and 4.7 assists per game this season.

Of course, McDaniel's season wasn't without some peculiarity. The young guard served a multiple-game suspension, but only for away games during the months of January and February. He was active for home contests, but not ones away from Crisler Center, which is obviously very strange. At the time, Juwan Howard explained why the suspension was being handled that way.

"We have very high standards within our program, culture and university," Howard said in a statement. "Serving as mentors, we need to set the standards and pathways for our young men to succeed.

"Beginning with our game at Maryland, Dug McDaniel will not travel to road games until further notice. Dug will dress for home games, however, when we are away from Ann Arbor, he will work towards meeting several academic goals he has set and needs to meet.

"While I am disappointed, this is not something we take lightly. This is an important step for Dug and his success as a student-athlete."

Obviously Michigan's season was an atrocity and cost Howard his job. Because of that, George Washington III, a true freshman who played sparingly, and now McDaniel, are in the transfer portal. Defections likely aren't over.
