A grand total of eight true freshmen are no longer eligible after appearing in five or more games this season, the first-year Wolverines making varying degrees of impact.

None have been a bigger difference-maker than tailback Zach Charbonnet, who continues to lead the team in rushing with 376 yards on 79 carries (4.8-yard average). Here is a look at his Saturday performance in Champaign, and the six classmates that joined him on the field against Illinois.

RB Zach Charbonnet: Starting his sixth career contest, Charbonnet had a career day, with a season-high 116 yards rushing and a touchdown on 18 carries (6.4 yards per rush) … It was his second career 100-yard outing.

S Daxton Hill: Hill appeared in his sixth career contest and had a relatively quiet day with just a single tackle defensively … He now has 12 tackles on the year, with 1.5 for loss, and a pass breakup.

DL Chris Hinton: Appeared in his fifth game of the season, nullifying a potential redshirt, but did not record a tackle defensively … Has two stops on the season, both coming in Michigan's Week 4 win over Rutgers.

WR Giles Jackson: Played wide receiver and on special teams in his sixth game of the year … Did not make a catch or field a kickoff … Has one rush on the year for two yards, two catches for 23 yards, including a touchdown, and has averaged 22.2 yards on eight kickoff returns.

WR Cornelius Johnson: Saw action in his fifth career game, voiding a potential redshirt, but did not record a catch … Has three receptions on the season for 22 yards, but has not had a reception since Week 3 at Wisconsin.

WR Mike Sainristil: Played wide receiver in his sixth career game but did not record a catch … Has one reception on the year.

LB Anthony Solomon: Appeared on special teams coverage in his fifth game, joining Hinton and Johnson as players that can no longer redshirt … Did not record a tackle.
