BREAKING: MSU Football Lands 2nd Commitment Of The Day

The Spartans are building momentum on the recruiting trail with their second verbal commitment of the day!

Michigan State is starting to build much-needed momentum on the recruiting trail.

Just hours after landing a commitment from three-star Dayton (Ohio) Centerville safety Reggie Powers, MSU secondary coach Harlon Barnett reeled in another catch in Tampa (Fla.) Tech athlete Camren Campbell.

Campbell, an overlooked prospect who is not yet ranked by any of the major recruiting services, has good measurables at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds. Michigan State is recruiting him as a defensive back.

The Spartans were the first high-major program to identify Campbell as a Division-I caliber player. Barnett offered the Tampa native back in April, and that was followed by 11 other FBS programs.

Other schools to offer Campbell include Ole Miss, Boston College, Kansas, Louisville and Minnesota among others. The Florida native took an OV to Boston College two weekends ago, but Barnett and Michigan State were able to close the deal when Campbell visited East Lansing this past weekend.

With today’s commitments from Campbell and Powers, the Spartans’ 2024 recruiting class improved to No. 66 in the country. The Spartans had previously received commitments from four-star Murfreesboro (Tenn.) cornerback Jaylen Thompson, three-star Mt. Pleasant (Mich.) interior offensive lineman Andrew Dennis and three-star Baltimore (Mary.) IOL Logan Bennett.
