What Randy Mazey Said Following the Series Clinching Win Over Marshall

West Virginia University head coach Randy Mazey Marshall game two postgame quick hits

The West Virginia Mountaineers (12-9) hit five home runs Wednesday afternoon to clinch the season series over the Marshall Thundering Herd (6-14) with a dominating 15-0 decision.

Bouncing back with an emphatic win

I just told them, I was like, ‘I told you the other day, you're going to play games like we did on Sunday and be on the losing end and sometimes you're going to be on the winning end. Over the course of a long season, those games happened and fortunately, we won that one.

Five Homeruns, two coming from Reed Chumley

We need some guys to get hot. Normally, when the whole team is together, it takes this many games to get in the flow of things but since we've had so many different lineups and guys coming and going and hurt, not hurt in and out of the lineup, it's going to take us a little bit longer this year to do that. So, we're still not there yet, because we have some guys as you know, JJ, and Sauve that haven’t played in a while, and it will still be a little while yet. But when we get the whole team together, somebody has to go from the field to the dugout with old coach Maze, so they're making that decision pretty tough.

Six Mountaineers combine for a shutout

We needed these guys that pitched today. We needed them to pitch exactly the amount of innings they pitched, and it was good we didn't have to throw Hagaman and Hambleton Oliver. Those guys both pitched twice, I think, against Ohio State. So, they needed a rest today to be fresh for this weekend. So once again, the strategy just worked out like clockwork.
