Did The New York Knicks Make A Big Mistake?

Last season, the New York Knicks traded Cam Reddish, who has played well for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Cam Reddish began last season with the New York Knicks, before getting traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Prior to the the trade, Reddish played in 20 games and had averages of 8.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 44.9% from the field and 30.4% from the three-point range.

However, there was a point where the former Duke star did not appear in 33 straight games (for the Knicks).

Over the offseason, the Trail Blazers let Reddish become a free agent, and he signed a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

So far this season, Reddish has appeared in 19 games and is averaging 7.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.4 steals per contest while shooting 40.9% from the field and 31.4% from the three-point range.

He has been one of the team's best role players and started in 12 out of his 19 games.

In addition, the Lakers just won the In-Season Tournament Championship and have a 14-9 record in their first 23 games.

When the Knicks traded Reddish, they acquired Josh Hart, who is a significant part of their team.

That said, the Trail Blazers did not keep Reddish, so it's possible the Knicks could have still done the deal without including him.

At the very least, the fact that he wasn't playing for the team last season when he was on the roster looks like a mistake.

Reddish was the tenth pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and spent the first two and a half seasons of his career with the Atlanta Hawks.
