NBA Champion The Miami Heat Should Trade For

I believe the Miami Heat should trade for NBA Champion Patty Mills.

The Miami Heat have gotten off to a solid start to the 2023-24 NBA season.

They are the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 24-18 record in their first 42 games.

With the trade deadline approaching, a lot of rumors around the league have begun to ramp up.

I believe the Heat should make a small move that will not get a lot of attention but could be a game-changer in the playoffs.

Who?

Patty Mills is in his first season playing for the Atlanta Hawks but has only appeared in 11 games.

The 2014 NBA Champion is averaging 3.1 points and 1.0 rebounds per contest.

At 35, he is no longer in his prime but could be a fantastic backup for a team like the Heat, who do not have a lot of point guard depth on the roster

Last season, Mills played in 40 games for the Brooklyn Nets and had averages of 6.2 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 41.1% from the field and 36.6% from the three-point range.

At $6.8 million, he has a very easily tradable salary that could make a deal simple to work out.

In addition, Mills is on an expiring contract, so there would be no long-term financial risk for Miami.

The Heat have made the NBA Finals in two out of the previous four seasons and should still be seen as contenders.

Mills has played in 95 NBA playoff games, so his experience would be perfect for their locker room.
