White Sox Could Reportedly Trade Ace, Could Houston Astros Be Interested?

The Chicago White Sox could be sellers with multiple starting pitchers on the market. Could the Houston Astros make a trade to bolster their rotation?

The Houston Astros have dealt with a plethora of starting pitcher injuries to start the 2023 Major League Baseball season.

Granted, the young guys who have been called up have handled the pressure with relative ease -- but something more needs to be done, especially with the loss of Luis Garcia for the remainder of this year and most of the 2024 season.

Sure, there are a few question marks in the infield as well, but that's a different story for a different day.

With MLB summer trade talks quickly heating up, a handful of teams that have underachieved thus far have plenty of talent that may be available on the trade market.

Especially in terms of starting pitching.

The Chicago White Sox are a prime example of a team that will likely be shopping off some starters this summer, most notably Dylan Cease and Lucas Giolito. The Athletic reports that both could be on the move.

And if the Astros brass wants to add a quality arm or two to the starting rotation, they should look no further than the White Sox.

Giolito would make the most sense at this time, especially with his impending free agency looming.

The 28-year-old right-hander has an overall MLB record of 55-50 with a 4.30 ERA and 929 strikeouts.

This season, Giolito is 2-3 over nine starts with a 3.86 ERA (53.2 innings pitched) with 56 strikeouts and a 1.12 WHIP.

Unless the White Sox (17-29) turn things around rather quickly, Giolito is almost certainly on the move.

Should the Astros jump on board and make an offer for the young right-handed Giolito?

The addition of Giolito would help solidify an already young starting rotation.

Only time will tell, but something's got to give.
