NBA L2M Report Reveals Crucial Missed Call in Kings-Knicks

The NBA admitted a mess-up in Saturday's Kings-Knicks game.

The Sacramento Kings were taken down by the New York Knicks on Saturday night in a chippy, physical battle between the two talented squads. The 98-91 final score was Sacramento's second-lowest scoring game of the season, as they had no answer to New York's physicality and tough defense.

The Kings shot 35% from the field and 27% from deep, so if they want to blame anything on the loss, looking in the mirror is where to start. But, the NBA's Last Two-Minute Report revealed a missed foul call that could have changed the outcome of the back-and-forth game.

With 57 seconds left, the Kings were down 94-91, as the NBA admitted the referees missed a foul call on Knicks' OG Anunoby, where he missed a swipe for the ball and made contact with Domantas Sabonis. Instead, the call was missed, and Sabonis was called for a double dribble, resulting in a turnover rather than a possession reset for Sacramento.

The video of the missed foul call can be found here (via NBA Last Two-Minute Report).

While it is impossible to say if this would have had a significant impact, a missed foul call with less than a minute remaining in a one-possession game is crushing.

Regardless, the Kings cost themselves the game, as Sacramento is not built to win games where they struggle to score. The Kings were torched by New York's Jalen Brunson, who seemed unstoppable on his way to 42 points. In a playoff-like environment, the Kings did not get the job done, and the blame cannot be put onto one missed foul call. Still, Kings fans can dream about a different outcome where that foul was called.
