Tulane's Former Speedy Receiver Signs With New Orleans Saints' Division Rival To Provide Kirk Cousins Offensive Firepower

New Orleans Saints division rival adds offensive firepower for quarterback Kirk Cousins.

New Orleans' division rival bolsters its offense with early free-agency moves. On Monday, news broke of Atlanta's significant acquisition of quarterback Kirk Cousins. Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot signed wide receiver Darnell Mooney to add speed to the club's wide-receiving corps. Ultimately, the Falcon's acquisitions could stress NFC South defensive backfields like the Saints, who could face changes during free agency.

According to Ian Rapoport, former Tulane Green Wave wide receiver Darnell Mooney agreed with Atlanta on a 3-year, $39 million deal with $26 million fully guaranteed.

Mooney's representatives, David Mulugheta and AJ Stevens of Athletes First, negotiated the terms for the speedy wideout.

Darnell Mooney was the Chicago Bears fifth-round pick (173rd overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft.

In four years with the Bears, he had 60 career game appearances and 49 starts. Mooney, 5-11 and 173 pounds, recorded 213 receptions for 2,593 yards, 11 receiving touchdowns, and a rushing score.
