Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo was named Grey Cup MVP after passing for 290 yards and three touchdowns in the 28-24 win over Winnipeg.

This season, Fajardo has his second-best regular season as a starter, as he threw for 3,847 yards on 317-of-444 passing for 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Fajardo ended up with Montreal after he was released by Saskatchewan after playing four seasons for the Roughriders. He signed with Montreal on a two-year contract hoping to win a Grey Cup for the first time a starter.

He won a Grey Cup in 2017 with Toronto, but he only threw 30 passes that season.

He was also one of the CFL’s best quarterbacks in 2019 with Saskatchewan, as he led the league in passing yards (4,302), passing touchdowns (18), completions (338) and attempts (473). He was a CFL All-Star and West Division All-Star that season.

Fajardo played four seasons at the University of Nevada from 2011-14 and signed with the NFL’s Oakland Raiders (now Las Vegas) in 2015 and was released after the preseason.

He signed with Toronto in 2015, played three seasons for the Argonauts and played one season with the BC Lions before joining Saskatchewan.
