No. 12 Baylor men's basketball (9-2) downed a solid Northwestern State (8-4) team in Waco 58-48 to help Scott Drew's team head into Christmas happy.

If you're a fan of the transitive property applying to sports, you can rest assured Baylor is better at Basketball than TCU. The Horned Frogs were downed at home by this very Northwestern State team by a 64-63 final. The Demons are seriously no joke.

Aside from this, there's not much more to take away from this game that is wonderfully positive. The Bears started awfully slow and the offense never caught on against a Demons team that did lose to Rice 110-73.

Jalen Bridges was a bright spot, though, getting traction on the offensive side of the ball with 13 points and two three-pointers. Dale Bonner and LJ Cryer also added 11 apiece, but that was it for Bears in double digits.

Baylor led this game 24-22 at the break, two free throws being the only advantage for Drew's squad. The Bears led the rebound total by three, the turnover total by two and the points off turnover total by two at the break. There was no separation.

The second half's focus was better defense. The Bears put it all together and held Northwestern State to 32% shooting overall for the game and 7-28 from three. Baylor also won the rebound battle 41-34 and points in the paint total 24-14.

This game was not pretty, but it was a win. The Bears get a small break for Christmas before facing Nicholls next week as the final tune-up before conference play.
